Melbourne – Unabara Second Lunch

When I first discovered Japanese hotcakes, also known as soufflé pancakes, I knew I had to try them. Asking Uncle Google, nowhere in New Zealand offered them while researching Melbourne, I found one place, Unabara Lobster & Oyster Bar in the Emporium. Shoot that to the top of the tasting list. Downside, about half an hour for the soufflé pancakes, so we had to do something while waiting.

Something ended up soft serve ice cream and a lobster roll. The place was so busy because of Boxing Day, the soufflé pancakes took almost an hour to come out.

A little menu envy, I may need to come back for their high tea.

Classic New York Lobster Roll – Hand picked fresh lobster meat, finely diced celery, red onion slice, mayo & chives in buttered New England split-top bun, $26.90

Caramelized Banana Soufflé Pancake – Fluffy soufflé pancake served with caramelized banana & chocolate sauce, $16.90

A little pricey but still, happy to do it and had to try the pancakes.
