Turns out there is an amazing Filipino restaurant tucked down a little alleyway across from Queen Victoria Markets.
GJ’s Grill, the owner hails from Bacolod and knows his BBQ because damn if this wasn’t one of the best I’ve ever tasted.
Four of us sat down in the tiny little eatery, three orders of mixed skewers on garlic rice, an order of 1/2 chicken on garlic rice and a small lechon to share.
The lechon was perfectly crispy while still being tender and being pork belly it also had the right amount of fat to make everything better.
The chicken was marinated, charcoal grilled and perfect, no dryness at all and that excellent flavour of chicken charcoal grilled.
1/2 Chicken on Rice – $17.50. Changing to garlic rice cost a little extra.
Pork or Chicken Skewers on Rice – $13.50, Changing to garlic rice cost a little extra.
