Melbourne – Broken Rice

Another late lunch and we stumbled across something like five Vietnamese places on Swanston Street. Decided to take a gamble on the one mostly full at 3ish in the afternoon, figured it was a good sign. Also the sign explaining broken rice made us want to try so in we went.

We got Broken Rice Specials, one chicken and one pork and a couple of rice paper rolls.

All portions were quite generous and the flavours were excellent. Service was quite quick and we were on our way again in about 40 minutes.

Turns out broken rice is literally rice that is split in half. It’s much stickier and softer when cooked, and very popular in Vietnam.
